Indeed it is awesome. Have you seen both episodes 1 and 2? I was wondering, do people in the US catch shows that are currently airing over here (in the UK) via encodes and such?

Also I was wondering if it would be a good Idea to have a British TV show encodes thread (in the media section), so if we find e.g. HQ encodes of shows that are currently airing, we could post them in there.

Ok im going to shoot myself for forgetting this. Seriously it is brilliant! When i was working 12 hr nightshifts on security i used to take in a DVD player and the the DVD's and just watch them all night.. and patrol a bit.

Also while were on topic of Cougan id recommend Saxondale i also loved this show. Not quite as timeless as Alan Partridge but its got alot of the same humor.

Yep it wouldn't be against me to have a british encode thread but I've downloaded the episodes from my cousin who stays over there. He uploaded 1-2 on megaupload or rather found them through megauload.

www.youtube.com/quite1nteresting has full episodes of QI from series D, E, and F. Episodes 6 and 7 of series F are hilarious.

Well, that's good, because I happened upon another YouTube user with full episodes of series A, B, and C. That's right; the entire run of QI is on YT (series G is due to air on the 26th. Hopefully our QI angels will be quick on the upload).

I'm always happy to share the goodness that is QI with others. I'm finding, though, that not everybody wants to hear "what I learned on QI today," so be careful.

British Reality TV has killed "The Stiff Upper Lip"

Craig Brown, UK Daily Mail, on how British reality television has ruined the British tradition of the "stiff upper lip":

(paraphrased)

Has reality television destroyed the British tradition of keeping a stiff upper lip? asked Craig Brown. We used to know how to weather adversity or accept a compliment without making a fuss. Understatement and self-deprecation were core British values. We "always refused to make a drama out of a crisis." But nowadays, we can create drama out of even the mildest setback. "It seems that everyone on television is either yelling at someone or bursting into tears, or, more often than not, doing both at the same time." On reality shows such as Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor, singers sob when they're told they're bad and they sob when they're told they're good.

How refreshing, then, to hear of the truck driver who got in a crash last week and found himself pierced through the torso by an 8-foot pole. Eschewing histrionics, he simply reached for his cell phone, called his boss, and said, "I'm in a spot of bother."

If only contestants on talent shows would emulate him. They should "be shrugging and saying 'Fair enough,' rather than acting as though they had just been speared through the chest by 8-foot poles."

Or, as Lord Uxbridge said to the Duke of Wellington, after his leg was hit by a cannonball at the Battle of Waterloo, "By Gad, sir, I have lost a leg." To which Wellington, glancing down, replied: 'By Gad, sir, so you have.'

Has anyone else seen the Catherine Tate show? I'm finding myself strangely entertained by her character Lauren Cooper. Really, as a one-gimmick character, I should find her extremely annoying, but I can't seem to get enough. I also don't seem to care much for the other characters on the show, just Lauren.

I never could figure out the appeal of Catherine Tate's characters for that show. I think she's a marvoulus actress, but what she's famous for is far too annoying for me to even watch more then a few seconds of. Much like Jim Carrey, I wish she would stick to serious/non-comedy

Of course if I'm going to watch an old sketch show anyroad, as it's not my usual want, it's going to be Dead Ringers or The Fast Show. Oh and some Monty show, something about a lumberjack and Biceycal Repair Man.

Since the list isn't blank, I'm going to have to disagree with it.

Wholehearted agreement, as a comedienne she annoys the hell out of me, as a comedic actress she's marvellous.
